Name That Party

Readers know the game well, and I am sick of it.

But here goes. A former congresswoman received a five-year sentence for stealing money from a charity she set up -- and the Florida Times-Union failed to mention her party in a 968-word piece by Christopher Hong and Steve Patterson.

So gang, let's play Name That Party.

Corrine Brown is a...

Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat.

Failing to inform readers does not change that, but it does show that news accounts in the Times-Union should not be trusted because we know that if she were a Republican, that fact would be in the first sentence.

And here is how this works, the Daily Beast picks up the story and does not mention that Corrine Brown is a Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat.

And so the party is protected by Hong, Patterson, their editors, and their publisher.

Glenn Reynolds calls the media Democratic Party operatives with a byline.

I tried to contact Hong and Patterson for their side of the story. They have no way of being contacted online.

Too bad then.

UPDATE: Sent a message to the news editor at 1:35 pm asking, "Why did the article on Corrine Brown's sentencing not include her party affiliation?"

We shall see what the reply is.

UPDATE II: Two hours after the story was posted, the newspaper inserted her party affiliation in Paragraph 3 after several readers noted its absence in the comments section.

  5. The MSM only recognizes “Republican” and “Not-A-Republicans”?

The latter group includes North Korean dictators, Iranian ayatollahs, and such like luminaries.

  6. A survey on media time spent on sex scandals showed roughly FOUR TIMES as much time spent by the LSM on scandals involving Republicans as Democrats, when the actual NUMBER is about the direct opposite.
