Trump keeps promise on Jerusalem. CNN foams

President Trump on Wednesday not only recognized Jerusalem as the true capital of Israel but began the process to move our embassy there.

CNN is fit to be tied. How dare he keep another campaign promise!

Trump goes to the wall for Israel

From CNN:
A politician who actually does what he told voters he would do seems almost unfathomable in Washington, a town of broken promises. For Donald Trump, being a president who delivers is especially crucial, since it's one of the golden keys to his so far unbreakable bond with supporters.
The need to live up to that image helps explain why Trump, who is under ever-increasing pressure from the Russia investigation, on Wednesday recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital despite the widely acknowledged risks.
FACT CHECK: President Trump is not under investigation, according to Comey (three times) and Mueller (at least once).

But murky motives from a jaded network that expects politicians to lie are what readers have come to expect.

More from CNN:
It was just the latest instance of the President obstinately honoring the bumper-sticker vows he made to his ultra-loyal supporters -- even those that horrify the political and foreign policy establishment, media critics and allied leaders.
FACT CHECK: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and the Gulf nations (with the possible exception of Qatar) are down with the move, otherwise the president would not have done so.

The Arabs largely stopped trying to eliminate Israel after the Yom Kippur War 44 years ago. War is bad for business. Funding terrorists, of course, continues but is limited to Iran these days.

Israel and Saudi Arabia actually are allies -- secretly but it is an open secret.

As for the "foreign policy establishment," the people in it have gotten us into two wars in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, as well as allowing North Korea to nuke up and paying Iran $170 billion not to nuke up, even though it continues trying.

Lastly from CNN:
There is a reason Trump was breaking ground on Jerusalem: Previous presidents judged that the political capital they could gain with a similar move was not justified by the risks. Those have included concerns of inciting Middle East violence or offending Palestinians by prejudging final status peace talks on Jerusalem, a city they also regard as their future capital.
Yep.

The dynamics of the Middle East changed. President Trump is capitalizing on it.

CNN has the sadz. Of course. It did PR for Saddam Hussein for 12 years and covered up his war crimes, after all.

The first was "Trump the Press," which covered his nomination.

The second was "Trump the Establishment," which covered his election.

It reads like an op-ed. Is it supposed to be a news story?

    1. Got it! You are FOR the political and foreign policy establishment, the media, and WHICH allied leaders? "Names, Les; I need names!"

  2. so, keeping campaign promises is a bad thing now? The MSM is a parody of itself. We get it. You hate trump. But hating him regardless of what he does just makes fair minded people ignore you.

    1. Yep, if you're going to be hated no matter what....well, give 'em a great reason!

  4. President Trump put his pants on one leg at a time this morning, pandering to his base. As usual.

    1. If the Republican party had pandered to its base, or if the Democrats hadn't pandered to its base, President Trump would have never happened.

You reap what you sow. (BTW, pandering implies a distasteful desire. The Congress who voted overwhelmingly to move the embassy to Israel did not consider it distasteful at the time. What changed?)

    2. LOL! Good one, Rick!

@Anon- that zinging sound was Rick's point, which went flying over your pointy little head. You aren't tall enough for this ride, son!

Comey and Mueller seem highly untrustworthy to me.

  6. Trump's move will not hinder a "peace process" that has existed in name only since Arafat turned down the last, best deal brokered by Bill Clinton. Perhaps this is Trump's signal to Abbas that he needs to get serious about negotiations with Israel or else the next shoe will drop, namely Trump will cut off the generous US funding each year that keeps Abbas in Gucci and Armani and the terrorists the PA funds in kafiyas and suicide vests.

    1. I believe the "peace process" exists to give diplomats a sinecure. Start your career here, retire from here, do nothing, get paid.

Nice work if you can get it.

  7. The next months will be very interesting in the Middle East. Trump finally got us out of the damn fool fiction the UN has been peddling for years. In essence he just told the PLO to grow up and live in the real world.

  8. Imagine, an elected President that keeps his promises. I mean, what is there to like about that?

Why, it's unheard of! Harumph! The very idea! Harumph, harumph!

It's comedy gold, is what it is!

Maybe I should start touching base with CNN- they seem to have the best comedy shows around! (Just kidding. I have an allergy to liars, so wouldn't last long there!)

  9. The conflict pimps in the middle-East don't want peace, as Dave Mustaine said "peace sells, but who's buyin'?" Nobody. Trump knows it's all a charade and treated it accordingly. If you can't be part of the solution sit down, STFU, and let everyone else do the heavy-lifting, as usual.
